Applied Modeling and Computer Technologies

               ◄ Back to journal

Mathematical modelling is a significant emerging area of research. Mathematical models are used in the natural sciences and engineering disciplines, as well as in the social sciences. Physicists, engineers, statisticians, operations research analysts, and economists use mathematical models most extensively. A model may help to explain a system and to study the effects of different components, and to make predictions about behavior. Mathematical models can take many forms, including but not limited to dynamical systems, statistical models, differential equations, or game theoretic models. These and other types of models can overlap, with a given model involving a variety of abstract structures.
This special issue of Open Computer Science is devoted to contributions related to various aspects of mathematical modelling. We seek high-quality original research papers not previously published nor under review by another conference or journal. Survey papers are also welcomed provided their topic is of a special interest.

Specific topics include but are not limited to:

  • stochastic modeling;
  • optimization and control;
  • machine learning and model predictive;
  • data and business analytics.

The issue will also cover the computer technologies for modelling. The topics in this filed are:

  • software for modelling and simulation;
  • distributed computing;
  • volunteer (desktop grid) computing;
  • high-performance computing.
