Description

We would like to hereby invite you to participate in the XXVI conference on Pleistocene Stratigraphy of Poland, which will be held in Pokrzywna in Opawskie Mountains, from September 2 to September 6, 2019.
The main aim of the conference is to present and discuss the latest results of Pleistocene studies conducted in various regions of Poland. Sudetes foreland is an area characterized by high variability of the natural environment. There are various genetic and age-related Pleistocene sediments, forms of glacial environments, organic-mineral lacustrine deposits, loess-soil sequences, and aeolian cover and dune sands. In spite of good recognition of the spatial distribution of these forms, their age and origin are poorly known up to date.
During first two days, keynote lectures, talks and posters of conference participants will be presented. In the next three days, the diversity of Pleistocene forms and sediments will be presented during the field trips. An important element of the field trips will be archaeological sites dated back to the Paleolithic era where, for several years, archaeologists, palaeontologists, physicists, geologists and geographers have conducted the interdisciplinary research.
