Volume 3 in this series
Since 2011, the more than 100 registered pile dwelling sites in the Alpine region have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The transnational series of heritage sites extends across Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, and Slovenia. This study presents case examples along with expert essays by international authors that address general questions about preservation, publicity, and touristic access to this hidden world treasure.
