Two different lexemes serve to designate flesh in the HB/OT, namely bāśār and šĕʾēr. While bāśār is attested a total of 270 times (plus another three Aramaic attestations within the book of Daniel), šĕʾēr is encountered a meager seventeen times; a significant accumulation of the term bāśār is found within Leviticus in the context of the dietary and purity laws.…
