A FC/UC Hybrid Source Energy Management Algorithm with Optimal Parameters

Abstract

This paper investigates the energy management problem of a hybrid power source with a Fuel Cell (FC) as a main energy source and an Ultra-Capacitor (UC) as a power buffer for an electric vehicle. The power split as well as the charge sustaining of the UC bank, which is an optimal control problem, are fulfilled by Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm. A preliminary study is performed in order to find the optimal parameters of the ACO algorithm. Two standard driving cycles (ECE 15) and (EUDS) are adopted for the simulation work while respecting the energetic and dynamic constraints of the hybrid source
