Praktisch wirksame Ethik, Metaethik und empirische Erkenntnis

Eine Verhältnisbestimmung

Schleidgen, Sebastian

English title and abstract

Practically Effective Ethics, Metaethics, and Empirical Insight. Determining Relations. Any ethics claiming practical effectiveness necessarily relies on empirical data or empirically substantiated descriptions and explanations. Although this has been discussed extensively, it is still often unclear for which reasons which data, descriptions and explanations are relevant for which ethical considerations in which sense. This is due not only to justificatory and methodical fuzziness, but particularly to metaethical lack of clarity: Any practically effective ethics must be aware of its metaethical points of reference to allow for a comprehensive identification of empirical data, descriptions and explanations relevant to specific ethical considerations. To demonstrate this, several prominent metaethical positions are outlined and their respective implications for a practically effective ethics with regard to the question of relevant empirical data, descriptions and explanations are illustrated.
