Aims and Scope
Particularly in the humanities and social sciences, festschrifts are a popular forum for discussion. The IJBF provides quick and easy general access to these important resources for scholars and students. The festschrifts are located in state and regional libraries and their bibliographic details are recorded.
1,000 Festschrifts from 20 countries, with 20,000 articles, are added every year. 12,000 entries are made accessible for the users by academic editors, according to a system of subject headings. The IJBF is the only regularly published, truly international, festschrift bibliography. Since 1983, more than 609,000 articles from more than 27,500 festschrifts, published between 1977 and 2009, have been catalogued.
The entries contain the following information:
- Subject Heading (in German and English)
- Subject field (in German, English, and Italian)
- Festschrift (title, publisher, year published, number of pages)
