    Aims and Scope

The complete, unabridged and edited diaries of the Romance philologist Victor Klemperer are available for the first time. From 1918 to 1959, the “cultural historian of the catastrophe” described the process of the Jews’ deprivation of rights and at the same time documented everyday life from the Weimar Republic to the early GDR.

The digital edition sets new standards and promises new disclosures of this already classical source. In addition to the transcribed and edited text, the database offers the handwritten original of each diary entry as a facsimile.
