Abstract
We propose the extension of a Luenberger-observer with a component of variable structure. The goal of the approach is the state reconstruction in uncertain systems. The synthesis of the continuous observer gain results from the minimisation of the ℋ∞-system norm. Constraints in form of a static observer feedback gain matrix and structure are employed in the minimisation of the ℋ∞-problem. These constraints are needed to guarantee the stability of the observer error dynamics for the combination of continuous (Luenberger) feedback and discontinuous part. Finally, the design is demonstrated for the example of a nonlinear mathematical pendulum.
