    Overview

Since the beginning of 2019, as the Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Materials has been transformed to an Open Access model, there is only one Issue per Volume, and the published manuscripts are continuously added to the current Volume.

A limited number of articles in each volume (2019-2021) is financially supported by Knowledge Unlatched. This means that the APCs charged by the journal will be covered by KU for the first 20 articles in each year.
You are welcome to submit your paper to our journal! The authors whose papers will miss the mentioned funding can apply for 50% discount, which reduces the APCs to 500 EUR.

We maintain a very flexible discount and waiver policy and authors with limited or no access to funding are strongly encouraged to apply for a discount or a waiver.

Please feel free to contact us before or immediately after submission at JMBM.editorial@degruyter.com to discuss available options.

    Your benefits:

    • Broad range of imperative topics from condensed to soft matter mechanics
    • Cutting edge theory, simulations and experiments used as tools for novel applications
    • High quality peer-review

All participants of the 2019 AlChE Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL are welcome to submit their manuscripts in this journal on special conditions. For details, please visit this website.

    Aims and Scope

    Objective
The Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Materials (JMBM) publishes articles on original research, short communications and reviews covering all natural and modern engineering materials. Contributions on interdisciplinary high risk-high gain or unconventional approaches in topics spanning the whole range from condensed to soft matter mechanics are particularly welcome.

The journal focuses on the micromechanics and nanomechanics of materials, the relationship between structure and mechanical properties, material instabilities and fracture, as well as size effects and length/time scale transitions. Articles on cutting edge theory, simulations and experiments – used as tools for revealing novel material properties and designing new devices for structural, thermo-chemo-mechanical, and opto-electro-mechanical applications – are encouraged. Synthesis/processing and related traditional mechanics/materials science themes are not within the scope of JMBM. The Editorial Board also organizes topical issues on emerging areas by invitation.

    Topics
    • Metals and Alloys
    • Ceramics and Glasses
    • Soils and Geomaterials
    • Concrete and Cementitious Materials
