In this paper, we describe the finite difference method of solving the problem of long-wave runup on a coast by shallow water equations. We justify the method and also give the estimate of its accuracy, which is obtained in the numerical experiments for a model nonlinear problem that has an analytical solution. We consider the method application to the solution of problems with complex geometry.
