Abstract
The article examines mixed Belarusian-Russian language usage in Belarusian works of fiction. The literary Trasianka used as a stylistic device in belles-lettres is nothing else than the public reaction of the artistic intelligentsia to the consequences of sociopolitical and sociodemographic changes in Belarus. Depending on the factors, prevailing at the time, the artistic function of the Trasianka texts changes as well ranging from social irony to political satire and at the same time the forms of expression of this phenomenon undergoes an evolution of the graphical representation.
