In the present paper, the author investigates the verbal battle the Czech president Václav Klaus is fighting against the environmental movement, especially his reasoning, his evaluations and the presentation techniques he uses to substantiate his position. It is of special interest how he tries to lead his “own” discourse and build up a new discourse for the Czech Republic, although he tries to verify that some kind of anti-ecology discourse already exists.

Keywords: verbal battle; environmental movement; discourse analysis; anti-ecology discourse
