Abstract

Through the cultural semiotic concepts devised by the school of Tartu it is possible to describe the Belarusian culture as auto-communicative. She conceptualizes herself as a “text-culture” and is moreover marked by her own “Lingvo-centrism”. The following article, which is taking under consideration the metalinguistic discourse, takes aim at demonstrating, that the language and its qualification play (and have been playing) an outstanding part in the development of the Belarusian identity and nation.
