    ARRANGEMENT

    • Title page: The first page of each paper should indicate the title, the authors' names, and the institute where the work was conducted. A short title for use as a running head is also required.
    • Key words: For indexing purposes, a list of 3-6 key words is essential.
    • Abstract: Each paper requires an abstract of up to 10 lines.
    • Introduction: A short introduction should begin the substantive text. The objective of the introduction is to place the work described in an appropriate context, and state the aim(s) of the work described in the text.
    • Materials and methods: This section (only in original papers) will describe the techniques utilised in the investigation and make clear the purpose of the study. In any experimental studies, the manufacturer, model number, sensitivity and other relevant information of any monitoring equipment should be stated in this section. Where appropriate, any statistical tests should be described, supported by a reference to the original citation of the test. In papers of a theoretical nature, possibilities for practical application of the results achieved should be suggested.
    • Results: Results in original papers should be descriptions of what was found, with appropriate numerical support. If there are a series of steps in the investigation, the authors may find it convenient to present their text under a number of sub-headings.
    • Conclusions: A brief discussion about the main achievement of the work, stressing any new substantive outcomes.
    • Units: Authors should use the SI system of units.
    • Footnotes: Avoid footnotes. When essential, they should be numbered consecutively and typed at the bottom of the appropriate page.
    • Tables and illustrations: Tables require a heading and figures a legend and they should be in black and white color. For the reproduction of illustrations, only clear drawings and original photographs can be accepted: negatives or photocopies cannot be used. It is preferable to submit figures in a computer-readable format. It is the author's responsibility to obtain written permission to reproduce copyrighted material.
    • Author: A brief sketch (no more than 4 sentences) of the author's professional career and background is needed that covers the most important present and past affiliations. The main areas of the author's main research interest should be identified.
    • Full address: The exact postal address, complete with the postal code of the senior author, must be given. If the correspondence is handled by someone else, indicate this accordingly.
    • References: References to published literature should be quoted in the text by giving the author's name and the year of publication and grouped together at the end of the paper in alphabetical order. References should be consistent with the ISO 690 standard.

Journal references should be arranged thus, giving journal titles in full:

Corrosion of Hardened Cement Paste by Acetic and Nitric Acids. Part I: Calculation of Corrosion Depth. Cement and Concrete Research 24, 3, 1994, pp. 551-562.

In the case of non-English publications the refe-rence should contain both the original title and its translation into English. The title of the journal should be given only in the original language.

    Editorial Policy

All manuscripts are subject to editorial review. Two internationally recognised experts (one from abroad) will anonymously review each paper. Manuscripts are received with the explicit understanding that they are not under simultaneous consideration by any other publication. Submission of an article for publication implies the transfer of the copyright from the author to the publisher upon acceptance. Accepted papers become the permanent property of the Scientific Proceedings of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (Slovakia) and may not be reproduced by any means, in whole or in part, without the written consent of the publisher and the editor. It is the author's responsibility to obtain permission to reproduce illustrations, tables, etc., from other publications.

    Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice

The publication of an article in a peer reviewed journal is an essential model for our journal "Scientific Proceedings of  FME STU Bratislava ".

It is necessary to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer and the publisher.

Our ethic statements are based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

    Publication decisions

The editor of the Scientific Proceedings of  FME STU Bratislava is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The editor may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editor may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

    Fair play

An editor at any time evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

    Confidentiality

The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

    Disclosure and conflicts of interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.

    Duties of Reviewers

    Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper.

    Promptness

Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.

    Confidentiality

Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

    Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

    Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

    Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

    Duties of Authors

    Reporting standards

Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work.

    Data Access and Retention

Authors are asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review, and should be prepared to provide public access to such data (consistent with the ALPSP-STM Statement on Data and Databases), if practicable, and should in any event be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.

    Originality and Plagiarism

The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.

    Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publication

An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behaviour and is unacceptable.

    Acknowledgement of Sources

Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.
