Structural studies on oxalatotriorganostannates. Crystal structure of trimethylsulfonium catena-O,O′-oxalatotriphenylstannate

Abstract

The crystal structure of trimethylsulfonium oxalatotriphenylstannate, C23H24O4SSn, synthesized from the metathetical reaction of trimethylsulfonium iodide, silver Oxalate and triphenyltin chloride in methanol, consists of [(CH3)3S]+ ions interspersed among the linear [(C6H5)3SnO2CCO2]nn chains that are constructed from [O2CCO2]2− dianions bonded axially to planar [(C6H5)3Sn]+ (Sn–O = 2.220(3) Å, ΣC–Sn–C = 360.0(4)°) cations.
