Structures of molecular adducts of inorganic salts. I. Pb(ReO4)2 · Urea · H2O and Ba(ReO4)2 · 3 Urea

Abstract

The two structures are built of 2[MTUrea], M = Pb, Ba, layers with cornerlinked ReO4 tetrahedra (T) and O-coordinated urea bridges between the cations. The layers are decorated on both sides by half of the ReO4 groups and water or urea molecules. An extensive network of hydrogen bonds and one long coordinative M–O bond in Pb(ReO4)2 · Urea · H2O holds the layers together. The cations have 4-capped square antiprismatic MO9 coordination and the polyhedra form centrosymmetric dimers by sharing an edge of urea O atoms.
