Das Absorptionsspektrum von NaNO3 von 450 — 5700 cm-1

  • F. Matossi and V. Hohler

The transmittance of single crystals of NaNO3 is observed with grating spectrographs (resolution 1-2 cm-1) in the region from 450 to 5700 cm-1 in polarized radiation. The spectrum is interpreted according to the selection rules of D3d in terms of combination frequencies. Te main absorption maxima of the internal fundamental vibrations are observed at 729 (Eu), 839 (A2u), 1373 (Eu, powdered sample in KI). At 813 cm-1, the A2u fundamental of N15O3 is observed. No lowfrequency libration could be determined for NaNO3; in calcite, however, it was found to be at ω6=20 cm-1.
