The most important journal for Latin linguistics filling the gap in the scientific literature
The only journal devoted entirely to Latin in both synchronic and diachronic perspective
Internationally renowned editors and members of the advisory board
Objective Latin is a corpus language with an impressively rich textual and intellectual tradition. The language was passed down through manuscripts and inscriptions and was the lingua franca in international communication and scientific writing, scholarship and science until well into the 18th century. The greatest corpus of fundamental works as Newton’s Principia Mathematica has been written in Latin. All Romance languages have their origin in dialects of Latin, and the influence of Latin is also conspicuous in languages like English and German. As a result of this long tradition and of the influence on the languages spoken today, the study of Latin is of high relevance for modern linguistic research. The Journal of Latin Linguistics (formerly known as Papers on Grammar) is the only journal devoted entirely to Latin in both synchronic and diachronic perspective. All linguistic phases of Latin - Archaic, Classical, Vulgar, Medieval, Renaissance, Modern - are treated. The Journal of Latin Linguistics fills a conspicuous gap in the scientific literature and is arguably the most important journal for Latin linguistics. The editors and members of the advisory board are renowned scholars in the field. Rigid peer-reviewing is applied.
