On analysis of clustering of numerical grids produced by elliptic models

A technique of Riemannian geometry is used for analysing the qualitative behaviour on structured grids. A new formula for a measure of grid clustering is derived. It is shown how one can with this formula estimate control functions in the much used elliptic grid models for the purpose of providing necessary grid clustering near boundary segments of physical domains or surfaces.
