    Overview

    Aims and Scope

The European Museum of Modern Glass in Rödental houses an internationally known collection that came into being parallel to the "Coburg Glass Prize" competitions organized in Coburg since 1977. In addition to artistically designed glass intended for everyday use, other glass objects, sculptures and installations from the last fifty years are presented. Individual chapters introduce more than one hundred works, recount the origins of the collection as well as the beginnings of the studio glass movement, and explain individual techniques such as lamp glass, pâte de verre and glass painting.

This guide to the collection is also suited as an introduction to the fascinating world of modern glass, which has garnered increasing attention within the last few years and represents a multilayered feature of Modern Art.
